Australian violinist Evan Elsley, brings a highly specialised insight into the research of Diploma violin technique. For decades, he has co-examined AMEB Diplomas, with Conservatorium and University Professors. He has mentored many diploma examiners, worked on diploma examiner review panels, and has been consulted on the technical components of grade exams. As a classical violin examiner, he has adjudicated thousands of performance candidates. These candidates have represented the broad church of teaching methods, tertiary music institutions, and the full spectrum of student abilities. He has also taught university violin performance, and teaching degrees. 

 

 

Evan Elsley commenced his study of the violin, at the comparatively late age of 11 years. Within a short span of three years, he was accepted into the Head Violin Professor’s class, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He was then offered a choice of several full tertiary music scholarships, and undertook the music course at Sydney University. While still a student, he led the music department’s resident Sydney University String Quartet, and was also the concertmaster of their Pro Musica Orchestras. During his university years, Evan Elsley was rapidly absorbed into the Australian professional music scene. He then studied solo virtuosic technique, with the Head Violin Professor at PWSM in Warsaw, Poland. The pedagogical provenance of Evan Elsley's teachers, include direct historical links to virtuosi such as Wronski, Ysaye, Thibaud, Lasserson, Heifetz, Auer, Joachim, Wieniawski, Vieuxtemps, Hubay, Rode, and Viotti.

 

As a Soloist, Evan Elsley possesses an extensive repertoire, and performing history. He has performed regularly for countless European and Arab royal families, global leaders, and the internationally famous. He has frequently appeared on multimedia platforms, such as television, radio, digital, and has been featured in print media. Performances, and recordings have been for a myriad of labels, and concert organisations. As both a soloist, and chamber musician, Evan Elsley has performed major Twentieth Century repertoire, given many world premieres, and has had works composed for him. In his role as an orchestral concertmaster, he has been booked for the full spectrum of musical styles. These have included orchestral concerts, recording orchestras, opera orchestras, contemporary music concerts, film soundtrack orchestras, silent movie orchestras, show productions, palm court concerts, festivals, international pop artists, touring orchestras, and period dance bands. Evan Elsley has been the resident solo violinist at iconic venues, ranging from the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, to the Sydney Showboat. His varied experience also includes solo residencies at International Hotels like the Sydney Hilton, Ritz Carlton, and running a busy performance company. He has toured, and worked with many great musicians, both in, and outside of the classical music scene. Each year, the number of his performances are in the hundreds, often to large audiences.
